No other decade in history has presented more technological advancements. One area of evolution that has many people excited is the latest in TV technology. Here is a look at some of the newest, most impressive ways you can watch shows and play games on your TV.

HDTV

Flat panel HDTVs are growing in popularity with each progressing year. High Definition has come a long way since it was originally released in 480p, the “p” standing for “progressive scan.” 720p and 1080p are other popular HDTV resolutions, but the highest available right now is 1080i, meaning the image is interlaced. This enhances the appearance of motion on the screen and reduces the appearance of a flicker seen with lower resolution moving images.

3DTV

This is the latest in TV technology and has already been available for a couple of years, but it’s still very futuristic and out of reach for many people today.  After all, the price tag for most 3DTVs isn’t exactly the most affordable for the average American. The current technology requires anyone watching the TV in 3D format to be wearing battery-powered glasses. This allows the image to appear 3D to any viewer looking at the TV, no matter their placement in the room. 3D devices like laptops and handheld gaming systems are releasing 3D games and programs that one person sitting right in front of the device can enjoy. Perhaps in the future technology will evolve to allow 3DTVs to be enjoyed without glasses.

AMOLED

Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode displays have pixels that flash on and off three times as fast as conventional TV displays. If you thought the image was smooth on HDTVs, you will be stunned by the fluidity of this kind of display. Phones, media players, and cameras already use this technology, but future application and revenue is expected to skyrocket in the coming decade.

The future of TV technology is bright, since it’s clear that advancements are continually being made despite the already impressive forms of digital entertainment available today. Imagine the visually appealing nature of local satellite TV in the near future when our current technology appears outdated.
